Upcoming release of the NIPO Fieldwork System 1.10

Next month version 1.10 of the NIPO Fieldwork System will be released. In April all clients will receive this version, together with more information on what's new in the latest software for CATI, CAWI and Data Entry. In the meantime we would like to inform you already on two important new features that are included in the software:

New command for interviewing multiple respondents on the same telephone contact
The NIPO CATI/Web Master now supports interviewing multiple respondents on the same telephone contact. This way you can interview all family members within the same household or interview several employees within the same company, in a single call. In the Sample table a new record can be created for each family member. When family members are not available at that moment, you can make appointments on these records.

New command to add records in any database table
With this command you can create new records in a database table. This may be the current Sample table, the Sample for another survey or any other table within the same database. This could be used to fill the Sample table for a new survey, with respondents of current surveys that have indicated to be willing to participate in this project. These records in the new Sample table can be called or sent an e-mail invitation instantly. Another option is to build a database with respondents that would like to participate in future surveys.

Service Management implemented at the NIPO Software Helpdesk

Since January the NIPO Software Helpdesk uses a service management system where all (email) messages from and to the Helpdesk will be stored centrally. This allows us to better react to issues you report to us, and to provide proactive and continuous improvement of service availability. The most notable change is that you will now receive an incident number every time you report something to the Helpdesk. Please retain this for reference purposes and distribute this internally to colleagues who should be kept up-to-date on this matter, as it allows us to link all communication on your issue together. We plan to open a customer helpdesk portal in the near future where you can log issues and look into the current status of reported incidents.

As the Helpdesks in Amsterdam, Buenos Aires and Hong Kong all work on the same system, it is vital for service quality that you send your emails to our central email address: helpdesk@niposoftware.com.

New Useful Tool on the NIPO Software website: BFileExporter

On the Customers section of the NIPO Software website we have placed a Useful Tools section. NIPO Software clients can download the tools free of charges (a login username and password is needed to access this website section).

This new tool has been added to the section:

BFileExporter
This is a new tool that creates .wav files from the NIPO Software B-files. The BFileExporter works quite easy via the command prompt, so can also be scheduled. For each sound fragment a separate .wav file will be written with a name that contains:
- The B-file name;
- The interview number;
- The position in the U-file;
- The length in the U-file.
