NIPO CAPI System 5.06 released

On 27 July we have released the NIPO CAPI System 5.06, the new version of our face-to-face data collection system. It is a major update to make the NIPO CAPI System compatible with Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 for server applications and Microsoft Windows 7 editions for end user applications.

On the NIPO Software website, under Customers (username + password required), Upgrades and manuals, Product: NIPO CAPI System and NIPO ODIN Developer you can find the new software.

A short overview of the most important new featues and fixes:

NIPO CAPI Database:
  • Minor changes to the database: information fields were added to the Interviewer table, superfluous fields were removed from the Survey table and the UserIn fields in the Address table have been changed from varchar to char.

    NIPO CAPI Master 5.06:
  • The NIPO CAPI Master 5.06 release now fully supports Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • It no longer keeps unused file handles open. This caused file open failures for active clusters where thousands of files from the EXTRA media directory were kept open.

    NIPO CAPI Manager 5.06:
  • The NIPO CAPI Manager no longer crashes if connecting to a NIPO CAPI Master service that is stopped.

    NIPO ODIN Developer 5.12:
  • The NIPO ODIN Developer now supports Microsoft Windows 7 operating systems.
  • The NIPO CAPI Preview can now be configured to change items such as logging, layout, skins and various interviewing settings.

    NIPO CAPI Client 12.07:
  • The NIPO CAPI Client now supports Microsoft Windows 7 operating systems.
  • The *SIZE command in the NIPO ODIN Script Language now configures the height of fully open-ended bitmap (*.BMP) answers in the NIPO CAPI Client interviewing module.
  • The Communication Overview now lists the number of successful interviews per cluster for outbound communication, in addition to the number of addresses sent back to the server.
